Latent Ecologies: Guiding Climate Decisions Through Design

As consumers, our choices often shape more than we realize—but making sustainable decisions can feel out of reach without the right information. This talk delves into the role of design in making these hidden systems visible, empowering more informed decisions in our day-to-day lives. Rachel will share insights from her work in climate tech, focusing on how product and corporate carbon footprinting tools help enterprises in the food and agricultural sectors. These tools identify decarbonization opportunities throughout a product’s life cycle, including the influence of consumer behavior. By exposing high-emission factors, design holds the power to reshape our decision-making, guiding more eco-conscious choices at scale.
