The Event Format

Our events feature a global and interdisciplinary network of experts to discuss design & tech from a variety of perspectives. Our goal is to define and lead the agenda on the most important issues concerning UX/UI, innovation, tech, DEI and sustainability. In 2025, in addition to the usual line-up of talks and workshops, Design Matters is part of a 3 day design festival called 3daysofdesign.

The event will feature two parts: a conference and a festival. The conference will be held in-person at the National Center for Cinema Culture, Cinemateket, and live-streamed. All the talks, which will be the same for the in-person and online audience, will be recorded and uploaded on Design Matters' video platform. The workshops, which will be different for the in-person and online audience, will not be recorded due to their interactive nature.

The event will revolve around four themes, which are defined together with a board of international designers and ex-speakers. Learn more about the themes here.

The festival 3daysofdesign will take place over the span of three days on June 18-20, 2025, in a variety of locations in Copenhagen, showcasing new products, prototypes, and installations run by our sponsors. Read more about here.

The Conference

The two-day conference features talks, hands-on workshops and a series of facilitated networking activities designed to help you connect with other designers and creatives whilst you get your fill of inspiration and new learnings.

The event starts off and ends as a one-track program, but in the middle of the day a multiple track program will be available, meaning that you can choose whether you want to watch more talks, take part in a workshop, or explore the Craft Zone where you can try out some creative activities or meet the sponsors.

All the talks revolve around defined topics that change every year. The workshops let you dig deeper into a specific technique, process, or skill that you can take home and put into practice right away. You will also have the chance to attend evening performances and parties to allow yourself to unwind and connect with other fellow designers.

Design Matters has been connecting and giving inspiration to designers from all over the world since 2015.

Join In-person or Online

No matter if you are attending in-person or online, with your ticket you will receive a link to watch the conference online and will get access to the database containing all the talks, interviews, and performances from all previous Design Matters events - for a total of 500+ videos.

The talks and presentation slides will be uploaded onto the database after the event, so that you can watch and rewatch what you missed, and check out the videos from the previous editions. You'll have access to the database for free for a set amount of time, and after that, you can decide whether to renew the subscription and stay on the platform or let the subscription expire.

The Festival

Design Matters isn’t just a two-day conference, though! It is also a 3-day festival that gives you the opportunity to take part in exciting activities all around Copenhagen and connect with lots of creatives and designers. The festival will take place on June 18-20, 2025, and will feature exhibitions, product and prototype showcases, interactive installations, and more!

The festival is free for everyone to attend and is organized in collaboration with 3daysofdesign, the biggest and most loved interior and furniture design event in Scandinavia. As part of this festival, Design Matters will take on the digital and tech side of design.
