About Cinemateket

Cinemateket is a cultural hub celebrating the art and history of film, highlighting the importance of moving images in our lives and society. Situated in the Danish Film Institute's buildings across from Kings Garden, it features three cinemas named after Danish film icons: Carl (Theodor Dreyer), Asta (Nielsen), and Benjamin (Christensen).

Cinemateket has expanded its cinematic experience with Filmtaget, an open-air cinema perched atop the building, offering breathtaking views of the Copenhagen skyline. There are several interactive exhibition pavilions showcasing highlights from the birth of cinema to the present day including a playful installation inspired by a children's book by Jakob Martin Strid, The Incredible Story of a Giant Pear.
