Be the Mindset Change LLC

Tanasha Lawcock is the founder of Be the Mindset Change LLC, a consulting company committed to implementing and improving organizational DEI initiatives through psychological growth mindset principles. Being psychologically (cognitively and emotionally) prepared to do diversity work through activation of the growth mindset helps to make the uncomfortable an opportunity for learning and growth. Tanasha’s love of psychology goes back to when she was a young girl of six and first began to read adult books on the subject. She fell in love with the brain and its cognitive processing capabilities. To date, Tanasha has over 14 years of management experience in roles ranging from Administration Supervisor to Human Resources Director to DEI Business Partner and over 12 years of comprehensive HR experience. Tanasha holds a bachelor’s degree in communication and has a dual postgraduate education in Psychology and Industrial/Organizational Psychology. She is a certified DEI practitioner. She also belongs to Psi Chi and Alpha Chi, prestigious academic honor societies. Tanasha’s goal through her consultancy is to build and maintain a positive, meaningful impact by creating organizational spaces where all people feel important, included, validated, and can build thriving careers.

Bias and Growth Mindset Principles: Giving Yourself Grace and Room to Grow

The word bias has taken on an element of shame with organizations and trainers boasting about “removing bias” to further DEI efforts. How is this remotely possible when bias is a natural part of the brain’s decision-making process? Effective diversity work should be centered around seeking to identify and understand the presence of any individual or organizational bias with an emphasis on education about engaging one’s growth mindset.

Activation of the growth mindset helps to make the uncomfortable an opportunity for learning as opposed to a threat. Growth mindset principles provide a powerful framework that focuses on embracing discomfort, seeking understanding, building resilience, and giving oneself the space, grace, and opportunity to learn new things. Join Tanasha in exploring the importance of the cultivation of the growth mindset in DEI work!
