About Amy

Amy is a Senior UX Writer at Monta. She found her way into content design through the worlds of PR and marketing and has worked at agencies, in-house, and as a freelancer.

Before joining Monta, she worked in Malmö, Sweden, as a Senior Content Designer in IKEA’s global design org, in Copenhagen for the Nordic bank Nordea, and with clients in the UK, including the Department for Education, the hearing loss charity RNID, and the mental health charity Mind.

She is also the co-founder of Copenhagen Content Design, a meet-up for product writers in the city.

Originally from the UK, Amy now lives in Denmark, where she is doing her best to learn Danish, survive the winters, and eat as many pastries as possible.

A Twinkle in the Eye: When and How to Play with Tone and Personality in Digital Products

Product designers are used to crafting user experiences, but how do you ensure that the words in your products strike the right balance between functionality, clarity, and personality?

This workshop, aligned with the Equipping New Craft theme, explores how to apply voice and tone principles in digital products, using real-world examples from Amy’s time on the IKEA content design team.

We’ll break down when—and how much—brand personality should be incorporated into digital interfaces while keeping content accessible and easy to use.

Through hands-on exercises, we’ll practice workshop techniques that help define and refine voice and tone in your product.

No prior content design or UX writing experience is required—just come ready to play with words!
