It’s about belonging: Supporting Migrants Through Language Learning

Learning the local language is key for anyone starting a new life in a foreign country. It’s essential for everyday communication, as well as access to education, employment, and social connections.

Yet, mastering a new language in an unfamiliar setting is rarely simple. Migrants arrive with diverse backgrounds: some have little formal education, while others are highly educated but unfamiliar with the local language or culture. These differences, along with personal experiences and varying levels of support, shape each person’s language learning journey.

Driven by our purpose — creating mutual understanding through language — Babbel builds products that help people connect with others and experience the transformational power of language. Through the years, this commitment has been extended to migrants in particular, with the Babbel team building specific courses for Ukrainian refugees, supporting Sea Watch and SOS Humanity with maritime courses as well as giving access to migration focussed NGOs.

This masterclass is an open invitation to share fresh perspectives and collaborate on practical solutions. Together, we’ll explore how to better support immigrants who face challenges with language acquisition—a crucial step in their integration and success.

Join us as we seek innovative ways to support and uplift those on this journey.
