Illustration and activism

In this workshop, you will explore illustration as a form of activism. Alva will demonstrate how she actively works against reproducing stereotypes and how she represents female and non-binary identities, aiming to create a discussion and inspire you to explore different ways of performing activism in illustration.

The workshop will start with an introduction of her journey into illustration and how she depicts and represents gender, female and non-binary identities. Then she will give examples of other illustrators that are performing some form of activism in their work. What you’ll experiment is to create an illustration of a person without assigning them a gender.
